Jan 1 2013 Stuart Fl. fishing charter report

Congratulations to Jake Levitt for starting out the new year with his first sailfish release ever!

Today's Stuart Florida fishing charter was Local resident and former head of the SEC Arthur Levitt. We picked him up at his house in sailfish point for a morning half day charter with his grandson Jake. The mission for the day was to catch Jake a sailfish.

With beautiful weather and flat calm seas the odds were against us. We started fishing in 150 feet of water due east of the Saint Lucie Inlet. After about an hour of no action, and listening to everyone else around us complaining of poor fishing I decided to slide inshore and see if anything was hanging around some shallow water bottom spots. There was a lot more bait inshore and we ended up catching a few bonita and hooked a pair of sails. Jakes first fish ended up coming off, but Arthur handed his rod over and the two of them made an excellent effort to reel in and release Jakes first sailfish! Great teamwork fellas.

Already looking forward to fishing with Arthur again, he really enjoys fishing for the jack cravelle, cobia, permit and tarpon while they are on the beach. You can bet we will be out there again in the spring when they show up.
